Dear listers:
New to the list and posting interests to see in there are any connections out there to the following:
John DUFFY, b 1846 Ships carpenter/shipwright. Fathers name: Thomas, carpenter.
The family were originally from Ireland but I have no date of migration to Liverpool, or info on what part of Ireland they came from. The address on John's marriage cert of 1875 is 1 Madrell Street. Known brothers: Owen, Silvester (d 1894) Thomas.
John married Caroline GOODISON, b 1852 (but could be earlier) d 1900. Fathers name: Richard, Warehouseman (deceased by 1875) Address on marriage cert 1875, 93 Hurst Street.
Witnesses to the marriage were Owen Francis DUFFY and Mary Ellen STUBBLEFIELD
In 1878 John and Caroline were living in 41 Hurst Street, and in Lemon Street 1881 where they are recorded as DUFFEY.
Known children:
Mary 1878 - 1962; Caroline W 1880 (not yet confirmed); Alicia (Alice Abigail) 1883 - 1963; Frank (Francis Joseph) d 1975 in Southampton, and John. Both Frank and John were in the merchant navy. Would be interested in anyone knows of a connection out there. Also, if anyone could tell me what sub districts Madrell St and Hurst St were in for the 1871 census, I would be v. grateful.
