Subject: [East-Mar] Posting Interest - PATRICK
Date: Mon, 21 Jul 2003 19:20:58 +0200

Hello everyone

Having been concentrating on my paternal line I've really just dabbled
with the maternal side. I've recently started to look seriously at this
side of the family though and would like to post this interest now. The
family name is PATRICK.

>From the 1841 census of Belford I know that John PATRICK was born c1803
in Belford.
He married Elizabeth Richardson - also born Belford
Their children were:-

Christiana PATRICKborn c 1830
Robert PATRICK born c 1832
George Richardson PATRICK born c 1835
John PATRICKborn c 1840
Adam PATRICKborn c 1844
JAMES PATRICKborn c 1846

All the children were born in Belford.

By 1851 the family had moved to Newcastle and were living at 51
Blandford St.

I have found the 2 eldest boys Robert and George on the 1861 Newcastle
census as heads of households. However, on my last trip to N/cle I could
not find any one else in the family on the 1861 or 1871 census of
Newcastle. The parents John and Elizabeth may have died but where were
the children?

I am wondering if the family plus unmarried children went back to
Belford. I really would appreciate it if anyone has access to the 1861
or 1871 for Belford and would be willing to check to see if the family
had gone back there.

Another thing I find hard to take on board is that John PATRICK snr was
a butcher from the census information but on his son's marriage cert in
1859 he was a cartman. Does anyone else have any instances of such
drastic occupation changes? Makes we wonder if I've got the right man -
but everything else fits.

Hoping that someone has heard of my PATRICK family (and apologies for
the length of this message)

Regards
Pat in Spain
