No Fran, I didn't see the Antiques Roadshow programme, (11th February), with
the cigarette case with the name EARWAKER on it . Has anyone got a video
tape of the programme?
No Jeanette, I haven't read James Joyce's 'Finnegans Wake' either, can you
please enlighten me about EARWACKER?
Yes there are about 25,000 EARWAKER's, EARWACKER's, etc. on the GOONS

I seem to remember the name EARWAKER being mentioned on this group - did the
person concerned see the Antiques Roadshow on Sunday 11th Feb? A gentleman
was showing his collection of Japanese artifacts from the late 1920's - his
father had been a carpenter in the RAF (yep - wooden planes in them days you
see :-)) and had bought home a wonderful collection of 'bits and pieces'
amongst which was a very fine cloisone (sp?) cigarette case, complete with
receipt - made out quite clearly to a Mr EARWAKER....)
Fran

And what about the character in James Joyce's "Finnegans Wake"?
Although I think his name was spelt EARWACKER.
