Hi John,
You can send either or both.
My address is 48 Westway Gardens, Redhill, Surrey, England. RH1 2JB.
I have the software to upload Gedcom files and the ability to photocopy
other people's family trees.
All I need is your permission or not to let others have copies of your tree.
I am bound by copyright, (as are others), for all information I receive.
Also, I am working in collaboration with Maureen Luxton, not in competition
with her
and the Guild of One Name Studies. Maureen receives photocopies of all my
personal research
and has much more information on her database than I have. If we all share
our information with
each other, then it will be for the mutual benefit of all.
Those of you on the list who have not outlined your area of research, may
like to do that now.

Dear Alan
So glad to be in contact with so many 'Earwaker' interests. I'm still a
little confused about Gedcom files etc; should I send you my Earwaker tree
by snail mail? I put an outline of my area of research directly onto the
Earwaker e-mail list. Was that the correct thing to do?
The missing Earwaker christian name on the 1851 census at Lambeth is
Robert. He was my Gt-Gt- Grandfather's brother who went to Australia before
retuning to England and finally dying in Nottingham in 1900.
I have an excellent book on West Meon ( Some chapters of it's history) . It
is written by John Hurst and Frances Collins. There is no mention of date or
publisher but only that it was printed by Thwaites and Watts of Petersfield.
Keep up the good work
John

Hello to all Earwaker researchers
Having seen the recent correspondence on St. John the Evangelist in West
Meon I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the bells. The treble and the
second were added in 1897 and were also a gift, together with the organ,
from Richard Earwaker; my Great, great grand uncle. The treble has the
inscription :-
The Gift of Richard Earwaker
Waker of ears I speak Earwaker's fame
One the gift's office, and the giver's name.
Richard was one of twelve children born to John and Jane(Lasham) of
Whitewool Farm West Meon in 1821.The family had social connections with
Richard Cobden the Manchester M.P. and industrialist, who gave three
Earwaker brothers; John(b.1820), Richard(b.1821) and Frederick(b.1825){my Gt
gt grandfather}, a start in Manchester. Richard was successful in business
finally owning a hosiery factory in Nottingham and then retiring in West
Meon where he died in 1904. John's son John Parsons Earwaker(b.1847) is the
famous historian. Frederick died young, his son (Frederick b.1850) went from
Manchester to I.O.M. and then to his uncle in Nottingham before
disappearing. But, I have recently rediscovered him and his family in the
USA.
If anyone has connections with this family tree I would be delighted to
contact and share information.
With regards to the various spellings of Earwaker; I found Frederick and his
family in the 1851 census for Manchester as Herewaker.
Good Hunting
John Bradley
