Well, not necessarily. Pietersen implies that his father's name was Pieter.
That's a following of the Dutch form of patronymic. It also certainly
doesn't seem particularly Jewish, let alone Ashkenazic during the time
period. But besides that, since the Spanish ruled the Low Countries for so
long, wouldn't there have been Ladinos in Holland?
