For years I have wanted a copy of Philmore's but the cost was prohibited.
Just before Xmas I was browsing the local Chapters Store and found a
"Pigot's & Co's British Atlas Counties of England, comprising counties of
England with additional maps of England & Wales & London 1840". It is
published by Salamander Books Ltd, 8 Blenheim Court, Brewery Road, London
N7 9NT. The ISBN is 1-84065-255-1.

It is a beautiful hard covered book and only cost $19.99 Canadian (less
than 10 pounds UK). I realize this is a Canadian store but they do have an
on-line site at www.chapters.com and do send world-wide.

I would still someday like the Philmore's but this is a very nice addition
to any library.
