Dear Listmember,

I would like to welcome you to the Schlesien (Silesia) List and ask you to
read the following text.

The purpose of this list is for example:

a) To find fellow researcher
b) Help with your research (Where to find churchbook, etc.)
c) History (Why did our ancestors leave that place ? Why was the death rate
so high?, etc.)
d) Silesian Traditions (Why do we do the things we do at a certain time?
Where did the Tradition come from?, etc.)

In order to start a sucessful discussion, it is important to create an
informative subject line. Many members of the list are subscribed to other
lists and only read the subject line to decide which entry they want to
read. E.g.:

a) If you are looking for fellow researcher: Hans Mueller, Gleiwitz, abt 1860
b) Research: Where can I find the churchbooks for Gleiwitz
etc.

Bad subject lines are:
- Mueller, Silesia
- Churchbooks
- Please read

Finally, I want to note the following subject "flame wars".
I hope we are all reasonable enough to where one wouldn't start or feed it.
Above all, tolerance and friendlyness should rule the list. I agree, there
are exceptions. If you don't like something handled within the list, please
contact me first. I will take care of it.

I wish you a lot of success researching your ancestors in Silesia.
