Hi,

I'm a new subscriber and am looking to see if there is anyone here with
connections to my Beardsley family or know of them. I have no experience
researching England and would be grateful for help.

My gg grandmother was Elisa Beardsley. She was born march 1836 in
Washington, D.C. Died June 20, 1913 in D.C. She married John Addison Miller
in Washington D.C. USA on November 15,1860. Her parents were Joseph
Beardsley and Catherine Attridge.

Joseph Beardsley was born about 1780 in Derbyshire. He died
August 1838 in Washington, D.C.

DC Census on him.
1820 Census:
Lists as Head of Family- Joseph Beardsley - One person between 21 and 45
years of age.

1830 Census:
Head of Family - Joseph Beardsley
Males- Under 5 yrs. - 1
Bet. 5-10 years - 2
Bet. 40-50 years -2
Females- Under 5 yrs. -1
Bet. 15-20 - 1
Bet. 20-30 - 1

I have a copy from the National Archives in Washington his Naturalization
papers plus I have found him in an index on naturalizations that match,
which states:

BEARDSLEY, Joseph; age 52 in 1832; nativity, Derbyshire, England; emigrated
from Liverpool, England; arrived at Baltimore, 16 June 1819; Declaration of
Intention, 29 May 1832; Proof of Residence, 30 May 1835, witnesses, Gregory
Ennis and Wm. Service (Serren); naturalization granted, 30 May 1835.

Also found in book.. I don't have the actual naturalization on this one.
BEARDSLEY, Joseph, Jr.; nativity, England; emigrated from Liverpool,
England; arrived at Philadelphia in 1821; Declaration of Intention, 20 May
1835; Proof of Residence, 20 May 1835, witnesses, Richard Wright and Levi
Washbourn (Washburn); naturalization granted, 30 May 1835.
This Joseph Beardsley married Susannah Tyser.

He was naturalized on the same day as mine. In early DC marriages I found
this Eliza who could be a sister or relative of Joseph's since he named a
daughter Eliza.
