I have just found another snippet of info on my 3xg grandfather, Richard
KIRK bpt. 10/5/1795 Chesterfield. As well as being Bellman, Towncrier and
in 1841 ringing his bell to summon a meeting of Chartists....He was also the
Beadle for 50 years at Chesterfield Parish Church until his death 12/6/1867.

So, my question is...what would be his responsibilities as Beadle at that
time and when did the title Beadle die out?
