Hello everybody, here I am again still searching for anything on my gg-grampa Sophus Sørensen. Here is a run down:

Born 16 May 1862 "Copenhagen"
Came to US 1887/1888 per 1885,1895 Iowa State Census. 1900, 1910,1920 and 1930 Fed. Census.
1900 Fed. Census shows him living in Jackson MN. I contacted Immigration office there and no record.
Cannot find immigration records on any online sites.
Married in 1894 "Des Moines" infor from family members and obit of Sophus and his wife Petrina Hansen.
Contacted Polk Co. Marriage Records, no file.
Ordered his Death Cert. from Iowa list his parents as Paul Sorensen and Anna Larsen.
From right after 1900 he moved back to Spirit Lake Iowa and lived there untill he died in 1933
Contacted Michele McNabb at the Danish Imm. Museum in Elk Horn Iowa....no record
Contacted Danish Brotherhood...no record.
Ordered birth record for his first born son Harry Albert Sorensen, list his father as Sophus Sorensen b. "Denmark" list his mother as Patrina Hansen b. Iowa
He farmed all his life in Iowa. He named his children in this order: Harry Albert, Fred, and the daughter Pauline, dont know if these will give any hints as far as nameing patterns.
There was a mention from Sophus to his grandaughter that there was twins in his family. His daughter had twins and one died. I had twins....both living.
The grandaughter of his wifes side of the family told me that Sophus' dad was Hans Christian Soren..............I dont know where this came from as she has been wrong on almost 90% of the family information she has gave!
I'm almost ready to stop the family tree at his name on this side of the family. His wife was from Lafayette Co. born in Clayton and her mother lived there most her life after coming from Norway. I may find the marriage record in that county?
The story also goes and my grampa has never been mistaken in his family info that Sophus was a stowaway on a Steam Tramper........is a Steamtramper the same as a Steamship?
