Here are a few guidelines for posting messages to the DENMARK list. (There
may be others.)

1. Choose a uniquely appropriate Subject. A word like "Translation" or two
words like "Need help" may be appropriate but are hardly unique.

2. If you change the subject then change the Subject line.

3. In writing the text of the message, repeat any necessary information
stated in the subject line. The text should be complete in itself and
shoud not require a "lookup" to see what it is talking about.

4. When replying to a previous message, append at least the latest in the
thread of messages to which you are replying. Delete such earlier messages
(and taglines) as are not required for a reader of your message to get the
context.

5. Please, to the best of your ability, use proper capitalization,
punctuation, spelling and grammar. Not only does this increase the
pleasure that one may find in reading your message, it should make it
easier for others than your fellow countrymen to understand. The entire
system of punctuation, etc., was developed, surprisingly recently, to
improve understanding. (Computers may not care about capitalization but
'understanding' was never one of their strong points.)

6. Avoid abbreviations including those for the U. S. states. CA can mean
Canada as well as California. WA can mean Western Australia as well as
Washington. Some of us remember when the abbreviation for Washington was
WN (as well as Wash.).

7. When writing Danish words try to use the Danish characters, æ, ø, and å
(or aa). Methods for producing these are discussed in the FAQ page to
which a link can be found at the end of every list message delivered in
Mail (not Digest) mode:
<http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~svendsen/FAQ/>;

8. Proof read what you have written.
