McGEE (MAGEE), James (1733-1823). Sergeant Major in the Delaware Line. James McGee or Magee applied for a pension in Warren County, Pennsylvania, on November 25, 1818, and in 1821 he was aged 87. He stated he enlisted at Wilmington, Delaware, and married Margaret McCracken in May, 1781, in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. He moved from there to Warren County in the summer of 1804. His widow applied for pension (W2954) on December 7, 1838, aged 76, stating he had died in November, 1823. She died on November 3, 1844. A large family was mentioned, but only a son Samuel McGee (aged 54 in 1838) was named. James also received bounty land warrant #10840-100-7 in 1792 [Ref. G-2276, P-433]. Service included: wagoner for the military in John Springer's Brigade in the Continental Army under Col. Francis Wade, December, 1779, through January, 1780. Private, Capt. William McKennan's Company, Southern Army of the United States; at Yorktown in 1781 and Camp Ashley River in 1782 [Ref A-135]. P!
rivate, Delaware Regiment, enlisted by Capt. Thomas Kean, Recruiting Officer, New Castle County, on March 9, 1781 [Ref. A-135, A-564, A-608, B-707, B-708].

McGEE (MEGEE), John. Private, Christiana Company of Militia, 1779 [Ref B-766].

McGEE, Levin. Private, 1st Company, 2nd Battalion, Col. Otho Holland Williams' Regiment, Southern Army of the United States, enlisted on February 29, 1780. Private, Capt. William McKennan's Company, at Yorktown in 1781 and Camp Ashley River in 1782 [Ref. A-119, A-135, A-308, A-589, 5-106].

McGEE, Mary Ann. See "Thomas Hardin," q.v. McGEE, Patrick. Private, Capt. Henry Darby's Company, Continental Troops. Enlisted on February 16, 1776, and in barracks at Dover on April 12,1776 [Ref. A-46, C-1152].

McGEE (MAGEE), Samuel. Private, Capt. George Smith's Militia Company, mustered into Continental Army on July 10, 1780, to serve the United States until November 1, 1780 [Ref. B-640]. "Samuel Megee" died intestate in Sussex County circa 1791 [Ref. J-226]. Also see "James Mcgee," q.v.

Wanda, I've seen a short online listing for Samuel Magee (McGee) from
Sussex Cty. He served in 1780 for a period of months. Could you check
and see if you have more specific info than that for him? I'm nearly
positive he never applied for a pension. Thank you very much!
