Please keep in mind that Delaware was under Wm PENN
at one time & was consider PA. :)

"With the establishment of St. Jones County (Kent) and the
change of the name from Whorekill to Deale on Dec 25th of
the same year, the Lower Counties began recording in an orderly
manner. The County was renamed Sussex in 1683 by Wm PENN!"
Ref: "Calendar Of Sussex County Delaware Probate Records,"
1680-1800 compiled by Leon de Valinger, Jr. State Archivist.
Hence, you can visit The Pennsylvania Historical or Genealogical
Society in Phila., PA for records.

<< Hello Chester County Researchers,

I have recently subscribed, so maybe I missed part of this conversation,
but I just wanted to put in a word here to remind genealogists that the area
you are speaking of was (correct me if I am wrong) a matter of controversy
for a long time before the three state area PA/DE/MD was finally agreed upon,
boundary-wise. There are parts of SE PA that are now in Cecil County, MD and
Newcastle Co, DE.

Don't forget, when looking for records to search all three....
