Well. As embarrassing as it is to admit, it appears I have been on a wild goose chase. I am now under the impression that the information I originally had on William Cutts is incorrect.

Below is (what I now believe to be) the correct information on William Cutts as found at:

2. John Cutts: b.ca 1791, Cumberland Co, NC; d. 4 Aug 1836, drowned in
Cape Fear, NC; mar. 3 May 1817, Cumberland Co, NC to Catherine McLeod
NORTH CAROLINA, CUMBERLAND CO NEWSPAPER:
From book of Newspaper items: John Cutts drowned in Cape Fear, Fox Island (do not know what
happened to widow & children.)
3. William Cutts: b. 1793 Cumberland Co, NC; d. bet 1860-70, Halnett Co, NC;
mar. 16 Mar 1820, Cumberland Co, NC to Martha Patsey Williams
4. Daniel Cutts: b. 1808 Cumberland Co, NC; d. bet 1860-1870 Harnett Co, NC;
mar. 12 Sep 1832 Wake Co, NC to Charlotta Holland
5. Paul Cutts: b.?; wife Lucretia (Crecy)

Possible daughters:
6. Cathern Cutts mar. 11 Nov 1808 to Medum Mathews
