My great-grandfather (on my mother's side) was: Manuel de Vera y Verdura
(he was an attorney & senator in Matanzas)
His parents were : Manuel de Vera y Saenz (I believe also an attorney-not sure)
His grandfather was: Felix de Vera y Morejohn & grandmother was Matilde
Sanza de Monjarere
His paternal great-grandfather was: LUIS TOMAS DE VERA Y LAFFITE & his
great-grandmother was: RITA EUSEBIA MOREJON y MOREJON.
This Luis Tomas de Vera was supposedly one of the first in Cuba of the Vera
family orgien from Spain. When he arrived in Cuba, the Spanish Government
appointed him as Capt. of the Port of Matanzas and I believe that as a
gift- the government of Spain gave him various caballerias of land in the
area that was named "Versailles"--my grandfather's records say that prior
to that time, this land may have been called "Yucayo" by the Indians.
Anyways, Luis Tomas de Vera y Laffite & his wife Rita had six children. 1.
Quintinia (paper too worn out); 2. Euglogio, 3. Luisa 4. Cecilio 5. Jose
Higinio and 6. Felix.
My great-grandfather was the grandson of "Felix de Vera".
-----
It appears that there were two saints related to the Vera family-- San
Ignacio De Loyolo y San Francisco de Borja.

If you have any other information about my family and it's Spanish origen,
please e-mail me.
THANKS SO MUCH.

LOURDES TESTER
