Subject: [CUBA-L] New, learning, looking for Roig's
Date: Wed, 12 Jun 2002 20:55:02 EDT

Hello :-)

I am new to this list and new to genealogy. For years I have contemplated
pursuing the family tree, and now finally I've decided to commit to this
project. My parents are getting older, and so are my in-laws. It's time I
sat them down and asked them for the information that only they can give me,
while I still can.

In the meantime, I'll take as many suggestions as I can get. The first line
of my family's tree that I want to investigate is my maiden name's - Roig.
My grandfather was Dr. Juan Tomas Roig, the botanist from Santiago de las
Vegas. I have heard so much about him over the years from my father that I
want to learn all I can about my Roig line.

Any suggestions or hints would be deeply appreciated. It frustrates me that
there is probably quite a lot of information on him at least in Cuba, given
how well known he was in the scientific community, but I have no idea how
much is accessible from the U.S.

In any event, I am looking forward to learning more about the pursuit of this
hobby from all of you......
Regina Roig (Lane)
