Subject: [CUBA-L] Question

Hello,

I have been reviewing documents at the Family History Center. They are from
a small town in Salamanca, Spain. Some documents state, 'moro soltero' or
'mora soltera.' I know that 'moro' and 'mora' mean Moor or Arab, but I
don't
think these statements are literal. From what I can gather it appears to be
a colloquial expression. (Also, they are never capitalized.)

Is anyone familiar with the use of these phrases? And, if so, what do they
mean?
