The Council may have eliminated the provision that required that the person
to be baptized had a saint´s name. However, in practice the provision is
still enforced in some places. In 1998, my cousin´s step children were
baptized in a small town in the south of France, near Avignon. One of the
children had not been named after a saint. The priest requested that a
saint´s name be selected and did not proceed until we came up with one.
