Monté
The apprentice tailor Jacobus Gijsbert Monté left Texel in 1866 at the age
of 19 years. He traveled with the Norwegian bark "Anna" from Amsterdam to
New York. With the same ship emigrated also the De Block-family. Jacobus
Gijsbert was born 21-2-1847 in De Cocksdorp, Texel, as son of the tailor
Hendrik Monté and Arendina Dekker. His father came originally from
Middelharnis, his mother was from Hardinxveld.
