Who asked about the Sebascos in Tunas- holguin?
Ijust found one slip of paper with some info about them;
In Cauto Embarcadero, a village on the South or left bank of the river Cauto,
where the road, -- old Camino Real -- from Tunas to Bayamo crossed the river,
there were no bridges when I last saw it in 1960. The river banks where far
away and the bed rock to deep to support a real bridge structure; thus,
instead the locals used a ferry to cross the river: a Chalana. The owner of
the chalana was a Sebasco. this family was large and the persons my family
remember were Ciro -- or Siro -- sebasco and Caridad Sebasco, not a marriage
of course but porbably cousins.
There was also in that area a Menendez family: Jose Menendez a native
Spaniard, was married -- so I understood -- to a Maria Del Valle, from
Manzanillo; one of their nieces, about sixty years old now was or is Lilita
Menendez.
There was also a Morell family,
Cauto Embarcadero was part of Bayamo
The nearby town of Cauto del Paso, so called because the Camino Real pasaba
por alli, was on the northern side of the Cauto river and belonged to Tunas.
