Hi Maria:

I read that you are researching family from Asturias. Could you give me some
direction? Where have you looked for information? I have the following
ancestors:

Diego de AVILA y ALBADIANA
b. 2nd half of 1500s in Pravia, Asturias

Rodrigo LOPEZ DE MEJIA (or MEXIA)
b. mid 1500s in Cangas de Onis, Asturias

Notes about the above people:

Diego de Avila y Albadiana married in to Elvira Lopez de Mejia y Garcia de
Holguin whose parents were the aforementioned Rodrigo and mother was Juana
Garcia de Holguin y Fernandez de Valero. Rodrigo and Juana married in 1573.
Diego's brother was Alonso de Avila y Albadiana who was the court historian
of Felipe III. His uncle was Jose de Avila who was the 5th (I think)
Governor of Cuba.

Rodrigo's uncle was Diego Lopez Sarmiento, who was the Bishop or Archbishop
of Santiago de Cuba in 1537.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eddie
