Hi friends,

I have been building a web site about a family member - also a hero of
the Ten Years' War - and have included both a chart and a "report"
including all his known ancestors back many generations. Users of
Family Tree Maker will recognise the "report" as a modified version of
the Genealogy Report put out by FTM.

I would like to also include a similar chart and report on his
descendants but there is a big difference in that many of them are,
naturally, still living. I have been searching for opinions on how to
deal with the ethics of including information on living relatives in a
web site.

The consensus seems to be to NOT include personal information about such
people but that it's OK to include their names and their relationship to
the family. That is, to name their parents and grandparents, their
spouse, their children and grandchildren etc.

Again, users of FTM know that their World Family Tree CDs include the
names of all family members but that no information is included about
those who are still living.

I don't want to make any of my cousins, second cousins, etc. angry by
including their names but to not do so would seem to defeat the purpose
of publishing the website.

Does anybody out there have any thoughts they would like to share?

Yo he estado construyendo un web site sobre un miembro familiar -
también un héroe de la Diez Años Guerra - y ha incluido un mapa y " un
"informe" que incluye a todos sus antepasados conocidos atrás las muchas
generaciones. Los usuarios de Family Tree Maker reconocerán el
"informe" como una versión modificada del Informe de la Genealogía
publicada por FTM.

Me gustarían también incluir un mapa similar e informar en sus
descendientes pero hay una diferencia grande en tantos de ellos es,
naturalmente, todavía viviendo. Yo he estado investigando para las
opiniones adelante cómo tratar con las ética de incluso la información
sobre los parientes vivientes en un web site.

El acuerdo general parece ser no incluir la información personal sobre
las tales personas pero que es OK para incluir sus nombres y su relación
