Dear Lupe,

Would the marriages listed in the compilations that you have only be those
that were religious marriages? I don't know if there was such a thing as a
civil marriage in the Cuba of the 19th, 18th centuries. In doing some
digging however, I did find some more information regarding my paternal
relatives and indeed there are many references to Matanzas and the
whereabouts so I will relist some names and places and see if anyone can
forward any info.

My paternal G.grandfather on my grandfather's side, Valentin
Tapanes-Estopinan, was born in Matanzas, I would imagine that sometime in the
1880's his parents were, father: Gabriel Tapanes-Tapanes, also listed as born
in Matanzas (probably circa 1860's) and mother: Tomasa Estopinan-Tapanes also
listed as born in Matanzas.

My paternal G.grandmother on my grandfather's side, Gregoria
Rodriguez-Alvarez, was born in Yaguaramas, however, her parents; Jose
Rodriguez-Sotolongo (born in Jaguey Grande) and Juana Alvarez-Ruiz (born in
Abreus) were from the areas near or around Matanzas.

My paternal G.Grandparents on my grandmother's side are as follows:

Great grandfather: Felix Lliraldi (maybe Giraldi)-Hernanadez
his parents were: Domingo Lliraldi-Tocha (from Italy)
Facunda Hernandez-Mendez (born in Cabezas??)

Great grandmother: Romualda Ricarda Alvarez-Gonzalez
her parents were: Jose Florencio Alvarez (born in Hanabana??)
Maria Salome Gonzalez (born in Roque???)

If any of this information cliques with anyone let me know. Thanks in
advance,

Rolando Tapanes-Gongar
