Hello Maggee:

I found a MACURIGES in the book "Cuba: Isla Abierta"
by Dr. Levi Marrero, but it only mentions it, in a list along
with other names, as one of the many places that have
retained their indigenous names -- no other information is
given about Macuriges in this book, so at least it is one less
reference you will have to look at (smile).

What are the surnames related with this place, if I may ask?

I'll let you know what I find on Macuriges (or Macureges) if
I run into any sources that mentions this place.

Cordially, cordialmente,

René Castellanos y Brandon
