For example:
15th. April 1897 - James Hicks suffered a broken arm and severe lacerations
at the Day Dawn and Block Wyndham Mine at Charters Towers ....... when he
was struck by a stone projected by a discharge of explosive.
5th. July 1888 - Henry Trevethan was killed at the Bonnie Dundee Mine in
Charters Towers by an explosion of blasting gelatine in bottom of shaft;
probably in the hands of one of them. (Died on following day)
15th. September 1888- James Treventha suffered severe bruises at the Rainbow
P.C. Mine at Charters Towers - Improperly riding on skip up the underlie.
6th. June 1894 - Frank Hockin was slightly scalded at the Brilliant Central
Mine at Charters Towers when he let the condensed water from the pipe into
the cylinder when the engine was going full speed and burst the end off.
12th. April 1891 - John Richards was killed at the 1 N. Phoenix Mine at
Gympie when a pipe fell down a shaft. The deceased and others were shifting
the pump set, and in hoisting one of the pipes the chain broke. (Crushed)
