It will be exactly like a book review because that is what it is. It is a
book about 5-6 inches wide, about 8 inches tall and less than half an inch
thick. It lists , in alphabetical order, each place (mostly farms I think)
in St Breock and then gives the names of the people living there. The
family I was looking for was listed with the first person (would have been
listed as head of the family in a regular census) given an occupation
(farmer in my case) and the others identified as wife, son, daughter,
apprentice, etc. There were no ages included. At the end of the book is a
summary of the population. There was no mark on the book itself that told
me when it was written. The archivist consulted the records they have to
tell me that it was c1824 and may have been done in preparation for the
1831 census. There is no film record (that I know of) so the only way to
consult its information is to go to Truro and book a seat at the CRO (where
I found everyone most helpful).
