Hello Listers,
I have just received William (Charles) Chant's marriage certificate to Jane Goldsworthy, just thought I would give the list all the details. This just helps me prove that he was of the Job Chant Stoke Sub Hamdon Chant's.
Details are : Date 9 September 1866 at the parish Church of Bedminster, both batchelor & spinster, William was a stonemason, they were both living at Brown's Row, father's were Job Chant a Thatcher and William Goldsworthy a Labourer.
The only slight problem I have is that the age of William on the certificate said that he was 26 years old in 1866 which would put his birth at 1840 ish, but I have his birth as 1st May 1836 and his baptism as 29th May 1836 in Stoke, he was the son of Job & Martha Gaylard.
Jane's age is correct with that I have found also, she was born 2nd Dec 1844 to William Goldsworthy & Fanny nee Cawley/Cauley in Taunton St James.
William & Jane had three children -
1) William Charles 1867 born in Bristol and he married in June 1890 in Taunton.
2) Emma Jane born 3/6/1870 in Bristol and married Dec 1890 to William John Corrick in Taunton.
3) Albert Thomas born 21 Feb 1877 in Taunton and married Lillian Charlotte Stacey in 1 Aug 1898 in Taunton.
Their father William died in December 1877 and is buried in Taunton Parish Church age 41 years. (this would put his birth year at 1839)
I am now very confused.................
I think mother Jane re-married, I think I may have found her re-marriage in Taunton.
Any comments welcome.
