Hello Frances
Many thanks for the references.
I emailed the R/C Archivist for Birmingham and his reply has answered the
problem. It appears that my Charles BROWN was buried at St Chad's in 1837,
but not many years later, what was a church, was rebuilt to become the
cathedral and in the process the new building extended over the original
cemetery. What the Church in Birmingham does not know is whether the bodies
in the original cemetery were exhumed and re-buried elsewhere or whether
they are still under the cathedral.
I will trace a copy of the article from FTM through my local FHS.
Again my thanks.
