According to George and Abner Casey manuscript.
Moses Casey 8-1.
According to the information we have Moses Casey was the sixth son of Abner Casey and that he was born in VA. He was a small boy when the family moved to South Carolina. We have very little information on this branch of the family, but find a Moses Casey enumerated in the 1790 census of South Carolina. At that time Moses Casey was living in District 96 , Spartanburg County, South Carolina, the same District in which most of the Casey's were living at that time. Enumerated as a part of the family at that time were two males over 16 , two males under 16 , six females and no slaves.
In our contacts with members fo the Casey family , we have not definitely identified any as descendants of Moses Casey, but there are some who are believed to be members of this branch.
In handwriting is the note: Moses Casey , was a major in the colonial army during the Revolutionary War.

Tim Casey Note: Now some of you may have not read the George and Abner Casey manuscript this is what it contains on Moses Casey son of Abner Casey. It doesnt appear to me that they tried to make Moses fit into where they wanted more like this is what we know, of course these men did this by pen and pencil and snail mail.

The Casey Family History compiled by Harold and Robert Casey. 1980.
Moses Casey 1.5
1. The "Mount Vernon Register News Sesquicennial Feature" states that "Abner Casey's children, all born on the Ronoake, where Levi , Moses and Randolph and a daughter. "

3. The 1790 census of Spartanburg County shows only one Moses Casey who appears to be married and has one son over sixteen years of age, two sons under sixteen and five daughters. These facts imply that Moses Casey was born in the early 1750's.

4. The earliest known record of Moses Casey was a survey of his land that was made on February 9 , 1771. Moses was shown owning 300 acres in Berkley Co South Carolina. According to "Land Grant Maps" this means that Moses was married and had two children. In 1771, Berkeley County was one of the four counties of South Carolina. This land was granted to Moses on April 31 , 1774 and Memorial was made on this land on July 14, 1774. According to "Land Grant Maps" Moses Casey was shown having 300 acres granted him in 1773, in what is today the extreme southwest corner of Spartanburg County, South Carolina.

5. The " Mount Vernon Register Sesquicentennial Feature" states that " Moses was (a) captain in the revolution." However, no documentation has been found supporting this statement.

6. In 1784, Moses Casey bought 100 acres from Christopher Casey Sr. , "part of the said 250 acres lying along land claimed by James Casey and Spencer Bobo. In 1787, Moses Casey bought 50 acres of land from Jesse Casey.

8. In the 1800 census of Spartanburg County , there are three named Moses Casey. The oldest , aged 45 years of age or older, is shown next to Moses Casey JR. aged 16 to 26 years old. Moses Casey Jr. was probably the son of Moses Casey , aged 45 years or older.

9.The 1810 census of Spartanburg County shows four men named Moses Casey and the 1820 census of Spartanburg County show three.

The following statement was found in the Estate Papers of Aaron Casey: "Personally appeared Moses Casey, Esq. before me and made oath that a few nights previous to his Brother Aaron Casey's last illness, he heard him say tht the land where on his son Moses now lives , he intended for him." The will of Sarah Casey widow of Aaron Casey, dated August 15, 1828 , mentions her daughters Barbary Casey and Nancy Gambrell, and sons Moses , William, James and Levey.

Tim Casey notes:
The Mount Vernon Register Sesquicentennial Feature is an article written by a descendant of Randolph Casey. Randolphs descendants were a very prominent family settling around Mt. Vernon , Jefferson Co IL descending from Zadok Casey. His descendants were also in Johnson Co IL and many descendants from his son Levi Casey in Johnson Co IL.

Also note that Moses Revolutinary war record has not been found to prove he was in the Revolutionary war.
