The primary focus is to offer suggestions in utilizing this forum to your
advantage. We impose no rules of behavior nor methodology; we simply hope to
pass along courses of action which have proven most successful in the past.
Think of this as a "tip" list for you to achieve a better response as the
list grows.
The organizers and volunteers who work on this and other projects on behalf
of your family genealogy do this for the sheer fun of it. There is never a
charge. All anybody asks is that you return any favors you receive to
someone else. There are always open slots for others who wish to contribute
something to the whole.

It is important to know that many of our readers simply scan the headers or
subject lines in digest or newsgroup header listings for articles of
interest. Therefore, it is to your advantage to create a meaningful subject
line for your post. When you ask about a family name, always provide as
much information as you can: names, locations, time-frames, etc. A lot of
information will fit on the subject line to "catch the eye"; then, in the
body of your post, tell what you know in more detail and explain just what
you want to know, where you have looked and failed, etc.

Feel free to express yourself.

If you have questions concerning the information in the FAQ, you may
contact us via email at the address below. We will make every effort to
assist you but please remember that we, like you, are amateur genealogists
still learning every day.

While we can not help you with specific genealogical research. The
discussion lists exist for that purpose.

We wish you success with your family research and hope you enjoy your
participation in this group.
