Heather,
William McFadden was the Wesleyan Methodist minister who married my
great great grandparents, John FOSTER and Sarah(Sally) FINLEY in
Montague
Twp. on June 16, 1840.

On pages 138&140 of "Ashton United Church" 1898-1998,the marriages for
Melville Presbyterian Church 1896-1926 are listed:
- Seymour Bradford to Ethel Phoebe McFadden by Rev. George T. Bayne,
29 September 1898 at Ashton.
- Reinfred Drummond to Annie Laura McFadden by Rev. George T. Bayne,
1905, no month/day, at Ashton.
I bought this book from Irma Willoughby, who besides being one of the
ones responsible for the book,is also active in the Lanark Co. Genealogy
Society. Both the Methodist and Presbyterian Church history in the Lanark
area is traced. She no doubt has a supply ready to sell to anyone
wishing
a copy.
So take your pick. Presbyterian or Methodist? Related to one another or
not?

> From the records it seemed they couldn't make up their minds
>whether they lived in Goulbourne, Carleton Co. or Ashton , Lanark Co.
>But Hester Jane married and moved to Ottawa anyway, so I guess that
>settled that! I haven't a clue about the McFadden or Baker ancestry...nor
>do I know where to start. Haven't seen their names mentioned yet on
