Yes, Jim, my maiden name is Bower. My dad is Donald Kimmel Bower (b 1909),
s/o David Earl Bower (1881-1971) s/o David Bower (b 1842 Huntingdon Co PA , d
1932 Bowmont ID), s/o Stephen Gottlieb Bower and Maria Glock Bower, our lne's
original immigrants. Stephen was b 1/1/1799 Klein Bottwar Wurtemburg, d 1886
Reinbeck IA. Maria Glock b. 12/30/1810 Hoeneck, Wurt, d. 1878 at Lena,
Stephenson Co. IL. Stephen & Maria emigrated 1838, settled near her
brother Elder John Glock in PA & became members of the Aughwick congregation
in 1839, moved to Lena IL in 1849 and were active in Waddams Grove church.

Stephen & Maria had five sons--Jakob Fredrick d. in Germany in infancy;
Carl/Charles Gottlieb Bower b 1838 in Germany, d. unm. Quincy IL 1862 of
battle wounds; 2 little boys, Benjamin b.1844 & Samuel b. 1848 both d. May
1849 in cholera epidemic during move to Lena; John L. Bowers (1840-1917) m.
Elizabeth Roxana Guenther, moved to Reinbeck IA, then Spokane WA, had 9
children whose descendants we are actively seeking; & my ggrandfather, David
Bower m. Susannah Badger (a Shively descendant) 1867, had 5 daus & 1 son,
all of whom attended McPherson College. David's daus. married into Vaniman,
Dyck, Dickey, Pitzer, Boyd families, and we are actively seeking their
descendants.

We are just beginning to try to put together a book concerning this family.
Stephen Bauer/Bower had elder brother(s) incl Johan Georg Bauer Jr who
emigrated to America earlier "and lost track of". Also dau of brother George
Frederick Bauer emigrated to IL (Loesa Thurwachter) . We don't have much on
these folks.
