Hi all,
You know what they say about big feet..............
Big Shoes!
Anyway......I realise i might have started something again but it's all
relevant (relatively) as far as i'm concerned...........
I have growing feet.......i know, i know, trust james to be
different.......up until the age of twenty-eight my feet were size nine
UK and narrow with high insteps.....now they're size 10 and occasionally
eleven....there is no way i can get into a nine now...not even a big size
nine.........
to recap; i was 6' 2" but due to ankylosing spondalytis am shrinking...so
now measure about 6' 1 ..................... on a good
day.........
and you know what they say about big noses?...........no on second
thoughts.... i won't go there.......
It will always be difficult to say empirically where we get our
characteristics from and what makes one hybrid species similar to the
other...........some of us have strong routes back to our ancestral areas
and some of us have double paths which re-inforce certain
aspects............
e.g. My paternal side could lead back to Normandy......and my maternal
side leads back to Norway via the Shetland Isles.....
now the Normans were Vikings from Norway.......so my roots may ultimately
go back to the same area.......apart from Eden that is.......to add
weight to this i have the colouring; pale blue-white skin, freckles, red
hair and the physique........(most Scots for example were of small
stature.....don't believe me?....check out the architecture and coffin
sizes......)....... i don't have the viking temper though......stubborn
perhaps hot-headed no......
I have much in common with Esther, even down to certain freckle patterns
and curly hair......and it has been as curly as the wee girls in Bruce's
picture on some occasions.....and yet my Dad has probably got more in
common with some of the other list members.........
it's all a bit bewildering.........there has recently(in palaeontology
terms) been evidence to suggest that the people with red
hair/freckles(broadly speaking the Celts) etc originated from a specific
area and radiated to all corners of the globe........so that gives Esther
and I more in common than those who are not red-haired/freckled than some
of the rest of us..........
somebody long ago mentioned something about the genetic factors
concerning redheads but i didn't get to keep the message and can't locate
it in the archive.......maybe that person could shed some more light from
the genetics point of view as to our origins?......can geographical
factors be discerned from DNA?.......
variety is the spice of life ........and there is practically no chance
for any of us winning champion of the breed......we are all
mongrels..........and in therefore........ UNIQUE........
hey ho..........
if any of you are coming to Scotland in the next week.....pack your
longjohns and fleeces.......bring the handwarmers and if you're going
North or West bring the best anti-midge anything you can lay your hands
on........
regards
James.......
