Dear Chris and all,

You asked about my story and I'm delighted to tell you.

The only info I had about my paternal grandparents was 2 names &
Hungary on my grandfathers death cert, that they had lived on the
Danube, he was in the military and a bookbinders stamp with the word
APATIN across the middle!!!! Followed the Danube thru Hungary on
maps and finally found Apatin in Yugoslavia.

Someone suggested this list and I joined over a year ago. Couldn't
find out anything about my family, but asked about a couple of foods
that my grandmother made and other Hungarians had not heard of them,
but they had on this list. Then about 10 days ago I saw Military
Records on the list. I entered my grandfathers name and Apatin.
EUREKA! Ron Gretz posted so much information for me that my "brain
was fried". As it turns out thru his personal search and books of
Apatin, he had all the info on both families. To top it all off, we
turned out to be 6th cousins. One of his great greats married one of
my great greats. Oh happy day......

Just a word to all who think it's hopeless--- Don't overlook anything.
If I hadn't picked up on Apatin on that stamp.... Be patient, I
almost unscribed about 2 weeks ago and what stopped me I'll never
know. All of you have given me so much info about the area and I
want to thank all of you for posting to this list.

Sincerely,
Pat Mauthner Paigo
