Robert Britton copied these MI's for us. He lives in Sanquhar with his
wife Helen Mccall. In the copy I have, it doesn't state the wife of John McCall
of Crawick Mill. Maybe Robert still has the original MI.
Did press on with another tombstone for : In Memory of John McCall who
died at Ulzieside, December 1749 also his wife Isabella Johnston his wife who
died 25th July 1749. Betty their daughter died 13th August 1758 aged 36 years
also George, William and Archibald
From HB McCall's "Some Old Families", William was born in 1693. HB also
says this family was in Sanquhar area in fifteenth century and came from
MaKaullis Kerne lands along Ayrshire border, likely connecting with other McCaullis
lands that became Guffolkland under the Douglases (Guffolk a Douglas Sept).
There is a charter that gave McCalls lands from Ayrshire to Dunscore from King
David in 11 th century, called Cauliston , now Colliston.
Still looking for Kirkconnel McCall info.
