Ron: You probably saw her arrival manifest on Ancestry; however, I
believe you read it wrong or not completely.
She LEFT Australia on June 5, 1945 and arrived in San Francisco on 18
June 1945. She was a Army dependent born in Ayrshire 15 August 1924
traveling on Australian Passport A221972 (some figures are hard to
read so don't hold me to the latter exactly) exp. 6 Oct. 1949. Her
next of kin was her mother, Agnes McKibbin, 324 Avoca Rd. Canley Vale,
NSW and she was going to Virgil Peniston, 206 W. Saratoga, Marshall,
Minnesota. A 5' 4" blonde, blue eyed war bride! Wow!!
There is an SSDI entry for a Virgil W. Peniston, DOB 29 March 1921,
DOD 25 Sept. 1990 in Mesa, Maricopa, AZ. I would contact the area
library for a copy of the obit since you have the date. Might give
next of kin you could contact. Good hunting.
