Hi Alex,
Thank you very much for all the information. All of the "Potential Match"
Information came from either the IGI or BVRI2, and as such would have to be
verified. That includes the Marriage and death dates.
The last two BVRI2 extractions were apparently from non Church of Scotland
filmings and might not appear in the regular OPRs. I will go and troll
scotlandspeople when I have as much information as possible on potential
matches. Scotlandspeople may even turn up other potential matches.
Unfortunately I am still guessing what part of Scotland to look in, and the
birth may have not even been recorded (I just hope it was).

Thomas's children are as follows. There are two names the same - William
and Elizabeth. It appears that Thomas named the first child for his father,
the third child for his wife, and the fourth child for his mother. The
second child could have been named for Margaret's father, but I don't know
his name to verify that. There is a USA record that I don't have yet which
may give Margaret's parents names (It also might not).
Thomas Gibson Born: 1809 in Scotland
_+Margaret Born: 1821 in Ireland
____James Gibson 2nd Born: December 02, 1843 in Arlington, Middlesex,
Massachusetts, USA
____William Gibson Born: June 02, 1847 in West Cambridge, Middlesex,
Massachusetts, USA
____Margaret Gibson Born: June 1851 in West Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
____Elizabeth Gibson Born: 1854 in Massachusetts, USA

I have copies of the 1841 census transcriptions in Wigtownshire, but am
not familiar with what is available for Ayrshire, other than going to my
local FHC and ordering films and trolling through them.

This could reduce the list of potential matches by one. I will check it out
further.
Thanks again,
