I wonder what would have happened if they hadn't appointed the Lord Of
Rowallane to be the civil magistrate. :)

Sess aug 19 1674

The qlk day compeared Edward Hemphill and is apointed to come to
publick the nixt sabbath & afterward it is resolved to dely the
publick apearing for a tyme

also being cited compeared Jean Smith and is apointed to apear on dy
mor for her adulterie with the sd Edward & so dely for a tyme

The qlk dy Robert Yowng and Jonet Powr are dilaited for fornication
and apointed to be cited against the nixt Sess

The qlk day compeared John Moor & John Gemill and doth deny that they
promised half merks mony yearly each one of them for the prbledy of
the kirk and dyk experas the contrar is found in ane act of Sess Jany
15 1662 thrfore the Sess apoints them to mak payment of 6sh 8d yearly
from the beginning of the year 1662 till the end of the year 1674
betwixt and the sevynth day of september nixt

Sess aug 26 1674

The qlk day being cited compeared Robert Yowng and Jonet Power and
being acused of fornication confessed that they wer gwiltie and are
inhibit ane anothers felowship except in kirk and merkat and are
appointed to com to the publick place of repentance the nixt Sabb

The qlk day Robert Howat church officer is inhibit to lend owt any
Furmes pooles or any sort of crinber belonging to the kirk nor that to
open the kirk dore to let any other persone b abowt any under the pain
& penaltie of ten pounds Scots mony qwch botielus

Sess Septembr 9 1674

The qlk day the Session apoints William Curie one of their number to
goe to Robert Young and Jonet Power and certifie them that of they
apear not in publik the nixt Sabb they will be further proceeded
against

The qlk day the Sess appoints the Laird of Rowallane as civill mag in
the fr Sess to apoint some of the number to give their advyse anent
calculating ane syn upon the delinquents

Also the Sess appoints John Gemill David Gemill & John Miller to crate
in the rents of John Moor James Holmes & John Gemill for their
priviledges of the Brby and dyke as also to take ane accompt of Alexr
Tanahill to ane amend fir the mortcloath

The forsd persons gives in ane acompt of ther diligenc and finds
severall persons awand for the mortcloath also that John Muir & John
Gemill reposes ? ? of them forsd mealls & dwties
