For those searching the names Hay and Dickson and others, you might want to read the book:
"Agents of Change, Scots in Poland 1800-1918" by Mona Kedslie McLeod
The book explores families that went to Poland in the early 1800's. The main families mentions are: Hay, Garvie, Kedslie, Dickson, Govenlock, Watson, Broomfeld and Heiton. Many of the families ended up coming back to the UK because of policital upheavals and war.
It is very interesting and well written.
My connection to the book is the Kedslie family from South Lothian. There is even a picture of my 3x great grandfather Alexander Kedslie. One branch moved from Poland to Ontario, Canada (mine) others to Glasgow, some to England. One of the Kedslies in Canada married a Dunlop from Ayrshire, hense why I'm on this list.
Donna,
Ontario, Canada
