One of my wife's ancestors, Robert Cunningham CAMPBELL was a silk weaver
in Stevenston in the 1830s. Does anyone have any more information on the
silk weavers, and know why the bottom fell out of the market?

[Wanders off on a tangent.....the bottom could fall out of the silk
knicker market.....would an ex-stocking-weaver be down at heel?]
