"Fenwick Novr 9th 1760 Do

The Session constitute by prayer the Modr intimated that he served the Edict
of William Dunlop William Culbertson Robert Young James Culbertson and Hugh
Wallace to be added to the number of this Session - The Session appoint to
meet in the Schoolroom Sabbath forenight, that the return of sd Edict may be
called for and the forsaid persons Chosen after the forenoons Sermon

Same day the Session heard a complaint from the Established Schoolmaster
wherein he represented that there is a Vagrant School taken up in this
Parish that such Schoolmasters must from their Situation and Circumstances
flatter the parents and thereby to often do the most cruel injury to the
children - That it is in the power of the Session to be Satisfied as to the
Teachers abilities or to put a stop to his teaching.

The Session taking this to consideration find that they are under many
binding Obligations to inspect the Education of and do their best Services
to a rising generation in this Parish - And therefore appoint one to
acquaint the said teacher that he must Satisfy this Session of his
principles and abilities This meeting Concluded by prayer"
