Linda & John

A friend found some very detailed Diaries dating back to the 1870's on a country property in NSW, Australia.

The name of the writer of the diaries was Compton South MILLER. Compton South Miller has no descendants - no issue with the 1st marriage - 2nd wife died and adopted son died in WWI.

Because the diaries contain a great amount of detail we have been able to piece together the names of cousins.

A common second name given to the children is MASKELYNE. As Maskelyne is a relatively rare name the thought was he could be related to the Astronomer Royal Reverend Nevil Maskelyne.

The diaries also indicate a favourite pastime as being astronomy as a lot of detail about the night skyline is recorded.

We have received a family tree from the Observatory ay Greenwich which notes that the line descending from uncle James (1701 -1780) eventually has a Miller but has no further details.

Are your Maskelyne's related to the Astronomer Royal or do you have any marriages with a Miller in your family ?

Regards
Sue M in Sydney
