Again, as happens infrequently, is a mention of a larger world event, in
this case, the freeing of the slaves in the British colonies.

"Fenwick July 23rd 1838

The united assoceate Session met and was Constituted by the Rev William Orr
Moderator with praise and prayer and was Succeded in the Same Excercies by
James Dunlop were present along with them John & David Dunlop Alexd Watt
Robert Lindsay John Gemmill William Young Alexd Gemmill James Boyd and
Andrew Pecken the Committee appointed to Converse with Jean Craig Reported
that they had Conversed with her Agreed to Delay her Case and the Committee
was Reappointed the Session agreed that the lords Supper be observed in this
Congregation on the first Sabbath of September as the Quarterly Sacrement
the Session was Glad to learn that the Slaves in the Collonies are to
Receive there liberty on the first Day of August agreed that the
Congregation meet on that Day at 7 o Clock PM to Preturn thanksgiving to God
for the liberty that the Slaves have Received in the Colonies
