Hi there

In Scotland we have Common Law which is not technically illegitimacy.

Illegitimacy only occurs when one parent regsiters the birth whereas under
Common Law (where a couple are together a year and a day and are therefore
considered married) they can both register the birth and the child is
consequently legitimate.

Later if the couple marry in a convential way an RCE can be added to that
effect.
