Just thought I'd add my two pennyworth after seeing all these postings about the Thomson family.
Rev John Thomson was born in Glasgow in 1831 and is on the 1881 census in Kilmarnock, where he is said to be the Minister of St Marnocks parish. He is living at 1 Portland Terrace with his wife Agnes and 7 children aged 3yrs - 16yrs - Kate, Peter, Helen, Robina, Joanna, Jessie and John.

Robina went on to marry Adolph Carl Christian Schultz, a wealthy shipbroker, moving to Leith, and bore him two sons Adoplh and Bruce before dying in childbirth in April 1899, aged 29yrs. The following year Adolph married Maggie Craig, daughter of Matthew CRAIG and Jeanie MORTON, who lived at Deanhill at the Dean and whose original business was at Dean Quarry.

Any links out there?
Ann
