Hi there
I've just joined this list, after having started exploring my wife's
paternal side of the family tree. Its been an uphill struggle, since
the Ayrshire branch of the family emigrated to South Africa in the early
1900's, and tracing roots gets a little more difficult.

I have, however, been fairly successful since getting information on the
connection person back to Ayrshire from South Africa! So here below
follows what I have so far - 5 generations worth, although from the 4th
and 5th generation, they started dispersing out of Ayrshire. I'd be
really interested in hearing from anyone who might be able to connect to
my tree!

On 13 5 1815 Robert married Eleasebath Thomson, in Kilwinning, Ayr,
Scotland.

They had the following children:

4. William Auld. Born on 22 10 1821 in Kilwinning, Ayr, Scotland.

5. Robert Auld. Born on 7 12 1823 in Kilwinning, Ayr, Scotland.

6. John Auld. Born on 19 3 1826 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland. John
died in Stevenston, Ayr, Scotland in 1890, he was 63. Occupation: Engine
Keeper At Kilwinning Engine.

In 1873 when John was 46, he married Ann Frew, daughter of Alexander
Frew & Ann Waters, in Stevenston, Ayr, Scotland. Born on 16 1 1833 in
Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. Ann died in Stevenston, Ayr, Scotland in
1914, she was 80.

They had the following children:

7. Archibald Auld.

8. Jean Auld. Born on 4 9 1831 in Kilwinning, Ayr, Scotland.

9. Elisabeth Auld. Born on 16 8 1835 in Kilwinning, Ayr, Scotland.

10. Charles Auld. Born on 19 6 1837 in Kilwinning, Ayr, Scotland.

Occupation: General Labourer.

13. James Auld. Born on 2 7 1880 in Stevenston, Ayrshire, Scotland.
James died in 1968, he was 87.

On 24 9 1912 when James was 32, he married Mary Ainsworth, daughter of
William Ainsworth (ca 1857-) & Mary Curry White (ca 1845-). Born on 28 9
1885 in Stevenston, Ayr, Scotland. Mary died in 1961, she was 75.

They had the following children:

14. John (Jack) Auld. Born on 10 7 1913. John (Jack) died on 3 2 1981,
he was 67.

On 25 3 1939 when John (Jack) was 25, he married Bessie Shepherd. Born
on 20 4 1915 in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire, UK. Bessie died on 13 4
1988, she was 72.

They had the following children:

15. William Auld. Born in 2 1918. William died ca 1972, he was 53.

On 30 10 1943 when William was 25, he married Jessie Dalziel. Born on 11
1 1917.

They had one child:

16. James Frew Auld. Born on 28 12 1918 in Germiston, South Africa.
James Frew died in Durban, South Africa on 28 1 1987, he was 68.

On 27 2 1943 when James Frew was 24, he married Johanna Elizabeth Meyer,
daughter of Jan Hendrik Frederik Meyer (7 2 1889-3 1943) & Christina
Elizabeth Brink (5 2 1891-20 9 1987). Born on 25 9 1919.

They had one child:

Eric James married Barbara.

19. John Edward Auld. Born ca 1945.

On 1 4 1967 when John Edward was 22, he married Marilyn Barker. Born on

daughter of William Wilson Whitehead (16 4 1913-7TH SEPT 1989) & Mabel
Irene Mary Warburton (7 3 1914-), in Durban, South Africa. Born on 17 12
1947 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

They had the following children:
