Hello,
I have written quite awhile back, concerning this family, but thought I
would send another request. Does anyone know of the family of Alexander
Brown and his wife Jean Tran or Traine from Stewarton?
I believe their son Peter was my fourth Great grandfather and that
possibly the ENTIRE family emigrated to the USA and settled in PA. I have
not proof of this, but I know a friend whose fourth great grandfather was
Alexander Brown and he did come from Scotland to PA. My Peter, also came as
a very young man to the States, but I have no knowledge of where he settled
first or whether his family came over with him. He married here, I believe
in Maryland, to Sarah Foster, and eventually ended up in Greeneville, TN.

He owned a forge there on the Nolichucky River and is buried in the
Timberidge Cemetery, along with his wife and one of his daughters.

Are there any records in the Stewarton area that would indicate that the
parents Alexander and Jean are buried there? The family apparently had
lived there for some time, as Alexander's father is listed as also having
lived there. These folks were probably Presbyterian.

Thank you for any help you may be able to give.
Judy Brown
