Very interesting the last part of this note. If my history memories are
right, Napoleon had just returned from his Russian disaster, and was losing
in Spain, but was still a threat, so a deserter was pretty serious business.

The asso Session met in the meatting house and being Constutetd by the Revd
Mr Deuar Mod were present James Broun Andrew Pickan Willeam Gemmel James
Wallace John Taylor John Dunlop James Millar the Comatie apointed to Convers
with James Couthbertson give in there Report Recomending him to the Session
for abslotioun James being present the Mod put a few qastions to him the vot
was then statetd absolve or not it Caried absolv and ordred him to apair
befor the Congreation on saboth first to hav the saim intimatetd Red a letter
from one of the Renfrew Shire malitia officers stating that Robert Jamieson
with whom Jean Wood cohabited unmarried when he Diserted. The Session agried
to Delay the Consideration of this afair for some time, she had cohabited fro
some time
