"Fenwick 5 July 1811
The asso Session met in the meatting house and being Constutetd by the Revd.
Mr. Deuar Mod were present Willeam Gemmel Andrew Pickan John Taylor John
Dunlop Compeared Margrat Tannahill an unmarried woman & declared that John
Muir an unmarried man in this parish is the Father of her Child Agreed to
Delay the Consideration of this afair till another meating Compeared Margrat
Calderwood an unmarried woman and declared that on the 19th of May last she
had again bein delivered of a Mail Child she farther declared that being one
of Mr. James Wyllies of Bustownheads shearers in harvest last she was raised
out of her bed & disaired to go to her mothers house to see her Child who was
very bad declaired that her fellings were very much agitated on hearing that
her Child was so badly declared that the man who caled her as above she did
not know & that he went of as soon as he delivered his message to her
declared that she left Mr. Wyllies house alon & set out for her mothers house
& that when she entered Todhill park the said stranger joyined her Company &
proposed to have Carnal Conversation with her & thretened that if she Refused
that he would murder her declared that she nether craied out for help nor
made resistance Declared that when she Been? to the wall all was quite about
it & she nether went into the house nor spoke a word to any of the people in
the hous declared that she returned to the Bustown head unacompanied by any
person whatever declared that she Returned from the wall without turning any
way aside by the way stright into Mr. Wyllies house declared that Agnes
Garvan her bedfellow asked her where and with whom she had been & she
answered that she had been in the wall with John Galt bot said in this she
had told a lie to her bedfellow declars still that she knous not the man who
lay with her in the Todhill park & therfor Canot say who is the Father of her
Child
