Subject: Using email with AOL

Dear listers
I am an AOL user but hate their email service as I found it difficult to use and totally different to the MS Outlook Express that I use at work. I then discovered that Outlook Express allows you to access a Hotmail account. I set up an account with Hotmail which I now use for all my home email. It looks and acts just like "normal" email on Outlook Express and you can choose plain text or HTML. Another advantage is that when I change ISP (which I did often for a while chasing the best deal) I don't have to change my email address. One disadvantage is that you sometimes have to go directly to the hotmail site to clear deleted items as they only allow you 2mb of space which can fill up quickly if you are on more that one list. For some reason you cannot do this via Outlook Express.
To access Hotmail use the link that is under "favourites" then "links" and after you have set up an account, you can go to the "hotmail news" button on their site and look under "technical tips" and it will tell you how to go about it. I believe that hotmail also scan all attachments for viruses before you download them.
Everything considered, I find that the Outlook Express/Hotmail combination works well as is better than AOL email and easier (and faster) than using hotmail directly.
Best of luck
